Tony Raines No. 33 RoadLoans.com Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS Team Report

NASCAR Busch Series Race 9 of 35—Phoenix (Ariz.) International Raceway

O’REILLY’S 300 RECAP:  Kevin Harvick, driver of the No. 33 RoadLoans.com Chevrolet for Kevin Harvick Inc. (KHI), finished 11th in Saturday's O’Reilly’s 300 NASCAR Busch Series race at Texas Motor Speedway.  The 11th place finish was the result of hard work and a fight to get - and stay on - the lead lap.  On lap 123, Harvick came down pit road for a scheduled green flag pit stop, when the caution flag flew catching Harvick and six other drivers on pit road.  This meant Harvick had to restart at the tail end of the lead lap.  With this finish, the No. 33 KHI Chevrolet maintains the sixth position in the NASCAR Busch Series Owner point standings.

WELCOME BACK TONY RAINES: Tony Raines returns to Kevin Harvick Inc. (KHI) and the NASCAR Busch Series (NBS) for the second time this season.  His last start came back at Atlanta (Ga.) Motor Speedway where he had one of the fastest cars. Raines, who started 36th, drove the No. 33 RoadLoans.com Chevrolet into the top 15 by lap 40. While warming up his tires during a caution on lap 81, he was hit from behind by rookie driver Kyle Krisiloff. With major damage to the rear of the car, Raines had to make several unscheduled pit stops so the crew could make repairs. Despite his attempts to drive his battered machine to the finish, the damage proved to be too extensive and Raines took the No. 33 RoadLoans.com Chevrolet to the garage on lap 152. He finished 34th, 43 laps down to race winner Jeff Burton.   This weekend Raines hopes for a better outcome when he straps into the No. 33 Chevrolet.

LAP MAKER: Tony Raines has run 1,378 of a possible 1,386 laps at Phoenix (Ariz.) International Raceway in the NASCAR Busch Series (99.4 percent).

SECRET CHASSIS “007”: Kevin Harvick Inc. will unload chassis “007” this weekend at Phoenix (Ariz.) International Raceway.  This chassis was raced last year at PIR, where Ron Hornaday Jr. drove it to a ninth-place finish.

185 AND COUNTING: When Tony Raines climbs behind the wheel of the No. 33 RoadLoans.com Chevrolet he will be making his 185th start in the NASCAR Busch Series.  He has compiled 14 top-five and 44 top-10 finishes to go along with a pole position in 2001, at Nazareth (Pa.) Speedway.

TEAM EFFORT:  With the help of Cale Gale, Ron Fellows, Tony Raines, Tony Stewart and Kevin Harvick the No. 33 KHI Chevrolet has sat inside the top-10 in NASCAR Busch Series (NBS) Owner points all season long.   After eight races the No. 33 Chevrolet sits sixth in the NBS Owner point standings going into Phoenix (Ariz.) International Raceway.

RAINES PULLING DOUBLE-DUTY: Tony Raines will pull double-duty for the second time this season.  Raines will compete in the Bashas’ Supermarkets 200 Busch Series event on Friday with Kevin Harvick Inc. and the Subway Fresh Fit 500 Cup Series race on Saturday with Hall of Fame Racing.

Dan Stillman Quotes:

ON CHASSIS NO. 007: “We’re bringing what is basically a brand new car to Phoenix.  It was run last year with Ron Hornaday Jr. at PIR, where he finished inside the top-10.  The guys have put a good car together for Tony this weekend and I look forward to seeing what it can do come Friday night.”

ON PHEONIX INTERNATIONAL RACEWAY: “Phoenix is one of those tracks that I look forward to.  I think our one-mile program is going to be good this year.  Tony Raines has been consistent at PIR and is coming off a great weekend in Texas.  Hopefully he can carry this momentum with him into next week.”
